| pt_BR |

| dc.description.abstractOther | Two experiments were carried out in Seropédica - RJ, to study the nutrient cycling in pure and mixed plantations of eucalyptus and two N2-fixing leguminous trees, one with fast and another with low decomposition rate. The first experiment studied the total litter deposition, its composition and distribution in relation to time. The quality of the litter and the total amount of nutrients returned to the soil by these plantations, were determined. The second experiment studied the decomposition of leaves collected from these plantations and nutrients released into the soil. The results showed that leaves contributed 54,8 to 66,6%, woody structures 8,3 to 34,7%, reproductive structures 4,1 to 25,3%, barks 6,7 to 8,2% and, the trash, 1,6 to 9,2% of the total litter formed in these plantations. In relation to litter deposition, the species Acacia mangium was responsible for the highest litter contribution (12,850 kg.ha-1), followed by Eucalyptus grandis plantations (9,900 kg.ha-1, in the pure plantation and, 7,650 kg.ha-1 in the mixed plantation). Pseudosamanea guachapele plantations were responsible for the smallest contribution (7,970 kg.ha-1). For the litter quality, it was found that pseudosamanea plantations have the highest amounts of nutrients (2.41% N; 0.1% P; 0.37% K; 1.42% Ca and 0.83% Mg) than the other species, acacia (1.65% N; 0.04% P; 0.40% K; 0.75% Ca and 0.18% Mg) and eucalyptus (1.05% N; 0.09% P; 0.27% K; 0.90% Ca and 0.25% Mg). Moreover, the pseudosamanea leaves have a lower C:N ratio (20.8) than the other species (31.4 in acacia and; 50.4 in eucalyptus), which confirms our initial hypothesis on the faster decomposition rate of the pseudosamanea leaves (T1/2 = 16.8 days), compared to the others (19.9 days for acacia and; 24.1 days for eucalyptus). | en |
