The objective of this work was to evaluate the population flotation and frequency of degradators coleopterons of the wood in two areas with different environmental characteristics and to associate them to the environmental quality. The areas are placed at the Hill of Chapecó in the city of Rio de Janeiro, RJ. The coleopterons were collected through traps etanólicas in weekly collections in the period of May 9 to the August 15, 2007. 2.244 insects were collected in the two areas. The insects were identified in family level. The family with larger occurrence was Scolytidae, with 59,8% in the reforestation and 48,1% in the area of native forest, following for Bostrichidae in the reforestation with 7,3% and for Cerambycidae in the native forest with 5,10%. The population picks of the family Scolytidae were superior to the population picks of Bostrichidae, Cerambycidae, Platypodidae and of the insects classified as Other, in both areas, being more accentuated in June 13, July 11 and August 8. The percentile of similarity among the two areas was considered loud, presenting 85,4% of similarity. In spite of the similarity percentage among the areas to be high, and, the frequency, as well as the population flotation to have presented similar in the two places, the area of native forest presented larger environmental balance than the reforestation area, because a smaller number of individuals of degradators coleopterons was registered by family, what can indicate, that the native area is with the population of these more balanced insects, presented a smaller amount of stressed trees.pt_BR
